Description

What is the Snapshot?

The Snapshot is the perfect introduction to your home’s history. It brings together the key surviving records to create a short narrative of the people who lived there, and the changes across time.

Why choose the Snapshot?

This package is best suited to homes where the surviving records are more limited — for example, properties built after the second world war to today, or for those looking for snapshot insight into their home’s history. The perfect personalised housewarming gift, a present for someone with a period property, or to connect with your own home’s heritage.

What you will receive
  • A written history of your home

  • Presented as a thoughtfully designed A4 Wall Art print showcasing the story, printed on fine-art premium Giclee paper – made to be displayed

  • Digital archive with copies of the key records uncovered in your home’s history

If you would like your Wall Art framed – don’t forget to tick the box before checking out.

Research scope

The Snapshot focuses on digital research and typically draws on:

  • Census records

  • Birth/Marriage/Death Indexes

  • Historic maps

  • Newspaper archives

  • Core local context to frame the narrative

How it works

Every project begins with a Pre-Research Check to confirm what records survive for your home. This takes 1-2 weeks and is already included when you purchase your Snapshot House History package. If the records suggest a deeper package would be more suitable, we’ll let you know and you’ll have the option to upgrade. In most cases, a Snapshot House History is feasible, however, in the unlikely event that not enough records survive for your property, we will provide a full refund (minus the cost of the Pre-Research Check £30).

Oak and Willow did a wonderful job of gathering as much information as possible, even with limited records to work from. The final result looks lovely, and their communication throughout the process was excellent. Everything was delivered quickly and with great care – highly recommended!

Abbie at Oak and Willow has been amazing to work with on this snapshot, which I purchased as a gift for my brother’s 40th birthday. From the moment I placed the order, the service has been phenomenal. Abbie went above and beyond to ensure the gift arrived in time, even though I ordered outside of the advised lead time.

I chose the framed option, and the final print exceeded my expectations. The digital portfolio was also a lovely addition, and the level of detail in the research was far more than I anticipated.

I looked into several options for this type of service, and I’m so glad we chose Abbie for such a special gift. I couldn’t recommend Oak and Willow more highly and have already shared my experience with friends and family. Thank you.
